About the Class
Duration: 4 sessions × 2.5 hours (includes preparation and clean-up)
A deeper dive into the making process, from raw clay to finished pottery.
Session 1 – Introduction, Wedging & Throwing on the Wheel Learn the basics of clay: understanding its properties, preparing it through wedging, and beginning to work on the wheel. Practice centering, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms. Create 2–3 pieces.
Session 2 – Trimming & Surface Manipulation Refine your shapes, trim foot rings, and work on your leather-hard pieces with additional techniques such as attaching handles, adding textures, or carving decorative designs. Prepare your pieces for decoration.
Session 3 – Surface Decoration Experiment with ceramic underglazes and painting techniques to personalise your work.
Session 4 – Glazing & Finishing Glaze your bisque-fired pieces and prepare them for the final firing.

I offer small pottery classes in Ealing, West London, for anyone who wants to explore working with clay. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, my workshops cover hand-building, wheel-throwing, and decorative techniques in a relaxed and creative environment.
Classes take place in my home studio, a short distance from South Ealing station.
