My Work

When people think about pottery they tend to picture earthy, natural looking colours in their minds. From the moment I first touched clay I felt the urge to apply colour onto it. Coming from a sunny country, I’ve noticed my pieces were as bright as the light we got outside and they have the power to spark a variety of emotions.

My pieces are made out of white porcelain or stoneware. I throw them on the potter’s wheel and decorate them using coloured slips that I’ve produced. I also add graphic illustrations on my pots especially nature motif such as birds, trees and flowers.

I create my own screen prints using the following technique:

I use a die-cutting machine to cut out the desired stencil using HTV and then iron it on a 160m silk screen mesh. Rubbing a black underglaze paste through the screen onto a tissue paper or newsprint paper and applying it on the pots.

I finish my pots with shiny transparent glaze and they are fired to 1260℃.
